Sebum and dead skin cells will clog up your skin pores to start off the process of acne. What exactly is sebum you might be asking? On a constant basis, sebum is the skin oils that are secreted through your skin pores. The sebaceous glands produce sebum which keeps the skin surface oily. The oiling of the skin is part of our natural biology and allows for healthy benefits.

The skin pores in question that are being blocked are called follicles. Your hair will come out one by one of each of these follicles. When the dead skin cells block the surface of the follicle the sebum gets trapped. At this stage, a bacterium called P.acnes infects the . P.acnes is a kind of bacteria that will multiply itself from within the follicle.

The black substance in blackheads is oxidized sebum. Dead skin cells and sebum are what make up both of these.

How Pimples Form

Pimples form when the P.acnes come into play. Because there is no air and with the presence of the trapped sebum and skin cells, the bacteria multiplies. This is what results in the pimple. There are two forms it comes in. Their names are papules and pustules.
